Position Overview
US-Based Financial Wellness Company is seeking a highly experienced Director of India to oversee the operations of our new entity in India and act as the Principal Officer for SEBI registration. In this dual role, you will lead our efforts in India, serve as the key point of contact for local advisors, and support global financial wellness initiatives. This role requires 10+ years of experience in financial planning or financial wellness, with a strong understanding of Indian financial regulations and compliance requirements.
You will manage relationships with local advisor partners, assist in customer (employer) and client (employee) engagements, and contribute to our education, software product line, and compliance initiatives. Your enthusiasm for improving lives through financial wellness education, combined with your strong project management and organizational skills, will be instrumental in enhancing our client's financial health and well-being.
Responsibilities
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure that all financial services and educational materials comply with SEBI and Indian financial regulations.
- Regularly review and identify compliance procedures to the compliance team to stay aligned with the evolving legal and financial landscape in India.
- Identify Partners: Research potential advisor partners through local financial planning associations, online searches through LinkedIn, and existing networks to identify suitable candidates.
- Verify Fit: Conduct interviews with prospective advisor partners to assess their capabilities, expertise, and fiduciary alignment with our values and objectives.
- Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with legal and finance teams to negotiate and finalize partnership agreements, ensuring terms are mutually beneficial and legally sound.
- Capacity Assessment: Evaluate the need for new advisor partners based on factors such as capacity constraints, expiring contracts, or the desire to enhance service offerings.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and assess the performance of existing advisor partners to identify opportunities for optimization or replacement as needed.
Establishing Advisory Firm Partnerships
Qualifications
- 10+years of experience in financial planning, financial wellness, financial advisory, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Indian financial regulations, including SEBI requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and manage regional or global partnerships in the financial services industry.
- Experience engaging directly with clients, advisors, and financial planning experts.
- Ability to develop educational content and host webinars tailored to financial planning topics.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across global teams and adapt to different cultural contexts.
- Abackground in working with AI-driven tools or platforms is a plus.
- Excellent English communication skills; fluency in Hindi or other Indian languages preferred.
- Expertise in financial wellness programs, education, or employee benefits services.
- Principal Officer requirements for SEBI registration (as of Dec 2024, subject to change):
- Educational Qualifications: CFP Certification
- Experience: The Principal Officer must have at least five years of experience in activities related to advice on financial products, securities, funds, asset or portfolio management.
- Certification: CFP Certification, apart from this SEBI mandates that the Principal Officer holds valid NISM Investment Adviser certifications (both Level 1 and Level 2) or an equivalent certification from a recognized institution accredited by NISM.
- Ongoing Requirements: The Principal Officer must renew the certification before it expires to maintain compliance with SEBI's regulations.

- This position is based in India and will operate fully remotely, aligning with our company's commitment to a 100% remote work environment.
- We work with a diverse group of advisors and clients from all across the world. The global team is often required to work off hours to meet with advisors, customers, and host webinars.
Salary Range : upto 60 lacs per annum
